SPECIFICATIONS

Intended use

The portable power pack enables the batteries and the

tool or machine to be separated, making it suitable for a

long time work by switching the installed batteries.

This unit can be used with 18 V battery-powered tool

or machine, or 36 V (18 V x 2) battery-powered tool or

machine.

About this instruction manual

The term “unit” in this instruction manual refers to porta-

ble power pack.

1. Be sure to read the instruction manual of the

tool or machine before use.

2. Do not pick up or carry this unit by holding

only the cord. Do not pull the cord while you

are wearing or using this unit.

3. Before wearing the unit, remove the adapters

from the tool or machine.

4. When you leave the tool or machine, be sure to

remove the adapters from the tool or machine,

or remove the unit from your body.

5. Be careful not to trip over the cord during

operation.

6. Do not use this unit on an unstable surface, or

unstable high places.

7. Do not use multiple units by connecting one

unit to another unit.

8. During operation, keep the cord away from

obstacles. The cord caught by obstacles may

18 V batteries. Do not use the batteries other

13. When attaching the cord to the cord holder, be

sure to attach it slowly and securely.

14. Always make sure that the tool or machine is

switched off and the adapters are removed

before attempting to perform inspection or

maintenance of the tool or machine.

15. When using this unit with a tool equipped with

a blade, be sure to keep the cord away from

the blade.

16. Do not use this unit when you are using a

safety harness.

17. Do not use this unit while you are climbing up

in a tree.

Important safety instructions for

battery cartridge

1. Before using battery cartridge, read all instruc-

tions and cautionary markings on (1) battery

charger, (2) battery, and (3) product using

battery.

2. Do not disassemble battery cartridge.

3. If operating time has become excessively

shorter, stop operating immediately. It may

result in a risk of overheating, possible burns

and even an explosion.

4. If electrolyte gets into your eyes, rinse them

out with clear water and seek medical atten-

tion right away. It may result in loss of your

eyesight.

5. Do not short the battery cartridge:

(1) Do not touch the terminals with any con-

ductive material.

(2) Avoid storing battery cartridge in a con-



nails, coins, etc.

(3) Do not expose battery cartridge to water

or rain.

A battery short can cause a large current



breakdown.

6. Do not store the tool and battery cartridge in

locations where the temperature may reach or

exceed 50 °C (122 °F).

7. Do not incinerate the battery cartridge even if

it is severely damaged or is completely worn



9. Do not use a damaged battery.

battery in such a manner that it cannot move

around in the packaging.

11. Follow your local regulations relating to dis-

posal of battery.

12. Use the batteries only with the products

CAUTION: Only use genuine Makita batteries.

Use of non-genuine Makita batteries, or batteries that

have been altered, may result in the battery bursting

causing res, personal injury and damage. It will

also void the Makita warranty for the Makita tool and

charger.

Tips for maintaining maximum

battery life

1. Charge the battery cartridge before completely

discharged. Always stop tool operation and

charge the battery cartridge when you notice

less tool power.

2. Never recharge a fully charged battery car-

tridge. Overcharging shortens the battery

service life.

3. Charge the battery cartridge with room tem-

perature at 10 °C - 40 °C (50 °F - 104 °F). Let

a hot battery cartridge cool down before

charging it.

4. Charge the battery cartridge if you do not use

it for a long period (more than six months).

FUNCTIONAL

DESCRIPTION

CAUTION: Always be sure that the unit is

switched off and the battery cartridge is removed



Installing or removing battery

cartridge

CAUTION: Always switch off the unit before

installing or removing of the battery cartridge.

CAUTION: Hold the unit and the battery car-



cartridge. Failure to hold the unit and the battery

cartridge rmly may cause them to slip off your hands

and result in damage to the unit and battery cartridge

and a personal injury.

CAUTION: When installing or removing the

-

1. Pull up the lever and open the cover of the battery

box.

2. Push the lock button, and then lock the cover with

the lock button.

with the lock button securely. Otherwise, the cover

may close accidentally, and cause an injury.

3. Install the battery cartridges.

4. Raise the cover to release the lock button, and

then close the cover and lock the cover with the lever.

CAUTION: Make sure that the cover is closed

securely and locked. Otherwise, water or rain may

enter inside the battery box and cause an electric

shock or malfunction.

NOTICE: When using this unit with 36 V

(18 V x 2) battery-powered tool or machine, install

at least one battery to battery port 1 or 2, and at

least one battery to battery port 3 or 4.

NOTE: This unit automatically switches the batteries

to be used among the installed batteries. The unit

selects the appropriate battery every time the tool or

machine is turned on.

NOTE: When using this unit with 18 V battery-pow-

ered tool or machine, install at least one battery car-

tridge to one of the battery ports.

To install the battery cartridge, align the tongue on the

battery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slip

it into place. Insert it all the way until it locks in place

with a little click. If you can see the red indicator on the

upper side of the button, it is not locked completely.

To remove the battery cartridge, slide it from the unit

while sliding the button on the front of the cartridge.

CAUTION: Always install the battery cartridge

fully until the red indicator cannot be seen. If not,

it may accidentally fall out of the unit, causing injury to

you or someone around you.

CAUTION: Do not install the battery cartridge

forcibly. If the cartridge does not slide in easily, it is

not being inserted correctly.

Indicating the remaining battery

Press the check button on the battery cartridge to indi-

cate the remaining battery capacity. The indicator lamps

light up for a few seconds.

NOTE: Depending on the conditions of use and the

ambient temperature, the indication may differ slightly

from the actual capacity.

Tool / battery protection system

The tool is equipped with a tool/battery protection sys-

tem. This system automatically cuts off power to the

motor to extend tool and battery life. The tool will auto-

matically stop during operation if the tool or battery is

placed under one of the following conditions:

Overload protection

When the tool or battery is operated in a manner that

causes it to draw an abnormally high current, the tool

automatically stops without any indication. In this sit-

uation, turn the tool off and stop the application that

caused the tool to become overloaded. Then turn the

tool on to restart.

Overheat protection

When the tool or battery is overheated, the tool stops

automatically. In this case, let the tool and battery cool

before turning the tool on again.

Overdischarge protection

When the battery capacity is not enough, the tool stops

automatically. In this case, remove the battery from the

tool and charge the battery.

Power button and battery indicator

CAUTION: Make sure that the tool or machine

is turned off before turning on the unit. Otherwise,

the tool or machine may start suddenly and cause an

injury.

To turn the power on, press the power button. The main

power lamp lights up in green. To turn the power off,

press the power button for a few seconds.

NOTE: If the unit and connected tool or machine are

left unattended for 8 hours, the unit automatically

turns off.

If the main power lamp blinks in green, the adapter is

not connected to the unit, or the batteries are empty. In

this case, connect the adapter to the unit, or charge the

batteries. If the lamp keeps blinking in green, refer to

the troubleshooting.

If the main power lamp blinks in red and green alter-

nately, turn the power off, and then turn the power on.

If the main power lamp keeps blinking in red and green

alternately after turning the power on, ask your local

Makita Authorized Service Center for repair.

Press the power button to indicate the remaining battery

capacity. The indicator lamp that corresponds to each

battery port lights up for approximately 5 seconds.

NOTE: The indicator lamps for remaining battery

capacity is just for a reference. The actual bat-

tery capacity may differ depending on the usage

conditions.

NOTE: If the tool or machine has indicator lamps for

remaining battery capacity, do not refer to the indica-

tor lamps of the tool or machine but to the indicator

lamps of this unit.

Using the adapter pocket

CAUTION: Do not use this unit with the cord



adapter pocket.

You can put the adapters into the adapter pocket as

shown in the gure.

ASSEMBLY

CAUTION: Always be sure that the unit is

switched off and the battery cartridge is removed

before carrying out any work on the unit.

Assembling the unit

1. Attach the battery box to the base plate as shown

in the gure. Be sure to lock the levers on both sides of

the base plate after attaching the battery box.

CAUTION: Make sure that the battery box is



levers. Otherwise, the battery box may fall when you

wear the unit or use the unit, and cause an injury.

2. Adjust the position of the waist belt. Pull up the

height adjustment lever, then adjust the position of the

waist belt by sliding the base plate, and then return the

lever.

NOTICE: 

When tightening the nut, do not tighten it excessively.

Otherwise, the height adjustment lever will not move.

3. Attach the adapter pocket to the waist belt with the

hook and loop fastener as shown in the gure.

NOTE: The adapter pocket can be attached on either

left or right side of the waist belt.

4. Adjust the width of the shoulder harness using the

width adjustment belt.

5. Wear the unit, then lock the buckle of the waist

belt, and then adjust the length of the waist belt.

NOTE: You can fold and x the belt with the hook and

loop fastener as shown in the gure.

OPERATION

CAUTION: When wearing the unit, be sure

to put shoulder harness on your both shoulders.

Otherwise, the unit may fall when you wear the unit or

use the unit, and cause an injury.

CAUTION: When wearing the unit, be sure to

wear the unit on your back. Otherwise, the unit may

fall during operation and cause an injury.

CAUTION: Always switch off the tool or

machine before turning on the unit, or connecting

the plug of the adapter to the socket of the battery

box. Otherwise, the tool or machine may start sud-

denly and cause an injury.

Connecting the unit to the tool or

machine

1. Pull out the cord from either left or right side of the

battery box. When pulling out the cord, be sure to set

the cord in the holders as shown in the gure.

2. Wear the unit.

3. Insert the plug of the adapter into the socket of the

battery box all the way so that the arrow mark on the

plug is aligned with that on the socket.

NOTICE: When disconnecting the plug and

socket, do not hold the cords but hold the plug

and socket. Otherwise, the cords may be damaged

and cause a malfunction of the unit.

NOTE: The plug and socket are disconnected if a

certain load is applied.

4. Install the adapters to the tool or machine in the

same way as the battery cartridge.

NOTICE: For 18 V battery-powered tool or

machine, use the adapter for 18 V. For 36 V

(18 V x 2) battery-powered tool or machine, use

the adapters for 36 V (18 V x 2).

NOTICE: If you cannot install the adapters to

the tool or machine when installing two adapters,

swap one adapter with the other adapter and

install them.

NOTE: The direction of the cord of the adapter can be

changed in the range of approximately 180 degrees.

5. Press the power button to turn the power on. To

turn the power off, press the power button for a few

seconds.

Using the cord holders

CAUTION: Attach only the cord of the battery

box to the cord holders. Do not attach the cord

of the adapters to the cord holders. Attaching the

cord of the adapters may invite accident and cause

an injury.

You can attach the cord of the battery box to the cord

holders as shown in the gure.

You can also attach the cord using only the cord holder

of the waist belt as shown in the gure.

The cord holders can be attached on either left or right

side of the shoulder harness and waist belt.

Using the hanging band

Optional accessory

You can use the hanging band for cordless grass trim-

mer or cordless string trimmer with this unit.

Attaching the hanging band

1. Attach the hooks of the hanging band to the rings

of the shoulder harness or waist belt as shown in the

gure. Select the type of band and the connecting

method appropriate for your usage.

NOTE: If the tool is bike handle type, attach the band

so that the band passes through inside of the waist

belt as shown in the gure.

Detaching the tool

Push the levers on the buckle to unlock the buckle.

NOTE: The buckle is not equipped depending on the

type of band.

Emergency detachment

1. Push the levers on the buckle of the waist belt to

unlock the buckle.

2. Take off the shoulder harness to release the tool

and the unit.

MAINTENANCE

CAUTION: Always be sure that the unit is

switched off and the battery cartridge is removed

before attempting to perform inspection or

maintenance.

NOTICE: Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner,

alcohol or the like. Discoloration, deformation or

cracks may result.

To maintain product SAFETY and RELIABILITY,

repairs, any other maintenance or adjustment should

be performed by Makita Authorized or Factory Service

Centers, always using Makita replacement parts.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Before asking for repairs, conduct your own inspection rst. If you nd a problem that is not explained in the manual,

do not attempt to dismantle the tool, machine, or unit. Instead, ask Makita Authorized Service Centers, always using

Makita replacement parts for repairs.

Charge the batteries, or replace the

batteries with charged ones.

The unit needs to switch the battery. Switch off the tool or machine, and

then back on.

Press the power button of the unit.

The cord of the unit is overheated. Cool down the unit.

The lamp blinks in red

and green alternately.

The unit has detected an abnormality. Turn off the unit, and then back on.

The tool or machine, or the unit is

broken.

Ask Makita Authorized Service

Centers for repair.

The lamp does not

light up.

The unit is not turned on. Turn on the unit.

The batteries are not installed to the

unit.

Install the batteries to the unit.

The remaining battery capacity is not

enough.

Charge the batteries, or replace the

batteries with charged ones.

The unit is broken. Ask Makita Authorized Service

Centers for repair.

Dicas para manter a vida útil

1. Carregue a bateria antes de uma descarga

4. Levante a tampa para soltar o botão de trava-

mento e feche a tampa, travando-a com o fecho.

baterias e provocar choque elétrico ou defeitos de

funcionamento.

OBSERVAÇÃO: Quando usar esta unidade com

uma ferramenta ou máquina acionada por bateria

de 36 V (2 x 18 V), instale pelo menos uma bateria

no encaixe de bateria 1 ou 2 e pelo menos uma no

encaixe de bateria 3 ou 4.

NOTA: Esta unidade troca automaticamente as bate-

rias a serem usadas entre as baterias instaladas. A

unidade seleciona a bateria apropriada sempre que a

ferramenta ou máquina é ligada.

NOTA: Quando usar esta unidade com uma ferra-

menta ou máquina acionada por bateria de 18 V,

instale pelo menos uma bateria em um dos encaixes

de bateria.

Para inserir a bateria, alinhe a sua lingueta com

a ranhura no compartimento e deslize-a no lugar.

Coloque-a até o m até ouvir um clique, indicando que

está travada. Se puder ver o indicador vermelho no

lado superior do botão, signica que não está comple-

tamente travada.

Para retirar a bateria, deslize-a para fora da unidade

enquanto desliza o botão na frente da bateria.

PRECAUÇÃO: Coloque sempre a bateria

doras acendem por alguns segundos.

NOTA: Dependendo das condições de uso e da tem-

peratura ambiente, a indicação pode ser um pouco

diferente da capacidade real.

A ferramenta é equipada com um sistema de proteção

da ferramenta/bateria. Esse sistema corta automatica-

mente a alimentação de energia do motor para prolon-

gar a vida útil da ferramenta e da bateria. A ferramenta

para automaticamente durante a operação se uma das

seguintes condições ocorrer com ela ou com a bateria:



Quando a operação da ferramenta ou da bateria pro-

voca um consumo anormalmente alto de corrente, a

ferramenta para automaticamente sem nenhum aviso.

Nesse caso, desligue a ferramenta e interrompa a ope-

ração que provocou a sobrecarga. Em seguida, ligue a

ferramenta para reiniciar.



Quando a ferramenta ou a bateria aquecem demais,

a ferramenta para automaticamente. Nesse caso,

aguarde até que a ferramenta e a bateria esfriem antes

de ligar a ferramenta novamente.



Quando a capacidade da bateria não é suciente, a

ferramenta para automaticamente. Nesse caso, remova

a bateria da ferramenta e a coloque para carregar.



2. Botão liga/desliga

Para ligar a alimentação, pressione o botão liga/des-

liga. A lâmpada da alimentação principal acenderá em

verde. Para desligar a alimentação, pressione o botão

liga/desliga por alguns segundos.

NOTA: Se a unidade e a ferramenta ou máquina

conectada forem deixadas sem supervisão por

8 horas, a unidade desligará automaticamente.

Se a lâmpada da alimentação principal piscar em

verde, ou o adaptador não está conectado à unidade ou

as baterias estão descarregadas. Nesse caso, conecte

o adaptador à unidade ou recarregue as baterias. Se

a lâmpada continuar piscando em verde, consulte a

seção de identicação e resolução de problemas.

Se a lâmpada da alimentação principal piscar em

vermelho e verde alternadamente, desligue e religue

a alimentação. Se a lâmpada da alimentação principal

continuar a piscar em vermelho e verde alternadamente

depois que alimentação for ligada, solicite reparos ao

seu centro de assistência técnica autorizado Makita

local.

Pressione o botão liga/desliga para vericar a capaci-

dade restante das baterias. A lâmpada indicadora cor-

respondente a cada encaixe de bateria acenderá por

cerca de 5 segundos.

NOTA: A lâmpada indicadora da carga remanescente

da bateria é apenas para referência. A carga real da

bateria pode diferir de acordo com as condições de

NOTA: Se a ferramenta ou máquina tiver lâmpadas

indicadoras para a capacidade remanescente da

bateria, não consulte essas lâmpadas indicadoras,

mas sim as da unidade.

Uso do bolso dos adaptadores

PRECAUÇÃO: 

Os adaptadores podem ser colocados no bolso dos

adaptadores conforme mostrado na gura.

2. Ajuste a posição do cinto. Puxe a alavanca de

ajuste de altura para cima, ajuste a posição do cinto

deslizando a placa-base e retorne a alavanca.

OBSERVAÇÃO: 

tanto no lado esquerdo do cinto quanto no direito.

4. Ajuste a largura da correia de ombro usando a

correia de ajuste da largura.

5. Coloque a unidade no corpo, engate a vela no

cinto e ajuste o comprimento do cinto.

NOTA: É possível dobrar e prender o cinto usando o

fecho de velcro, conforme mostrado na gura.

Como conectar a unidade à

ferramenta ou máquina

1. Puxe o cabo para fora do lado esquerdo ou direito

da caixa das baterias. Ao puxar o cabo, certique-se de

encaixá-lo nos suportes, conforme mostrado na gura.

2. Coloque a unidade no corpo.

3. Insira o plugue do adaptador no soquete da caixa

das baterias até o m, de modo que a marca da seta no

plugue que alinhada à do soquete.

OBSERVAÇÃO: Quando desconectar o plugue

-

gue e no soquete. Caso contrário, os cabos poderão

sofrer danos e provocar defeitos de funcionamento

da unidade.

NOTA: O plugue e o soquete são desconectados

quando uma certa carga é aplicada.

4. Instale os adaptadores na ferramenta ou máquina

da mesma maneira que a bateria.

OBSERVAÇÃO: Para ferramentas ou máquinas

acionadas por baterias de 18 V, use o adaptador

para 18 V. Para ferramentas ou máquinas aciona-

das por baterias de 36 V (2 x 18 V), use adaptado-

res para 36 V (2 x 18 V).

OBSERVAÇÃO: 

adaptadores na ferramenta ou máquina ao insta-

lar dois adaptadores, troque um adaptador com o

outro e instale-os.

alterada em aproximadamente 180 graus.

5. Pressione o botão liga/desliga para ligar a alimen-

tação. Para desligar a alimentação, pressione o botão

liga/desliga por alguns segundos.

Como usar os suportes do cabo

PRECAUÇÃO: Prenda somente o cabo da



O cabo da caixa das baterias pode ser preso nos supor-

Também é possível prender o cabo usando somente

o suporte do cabo localizado no cinto, conforme mos-

trado na gura.

Os suportes do cabo podem ser colocados tanto no

lado esquerdo da correia de ombro e do cinto quanto

no direito.

Acessório opcional

A cinta de suspensão pode ser usada para a tesoura

para grama a bateria ou o aparador de grama a bateria

com esta unidade.



1. Prenda os ganchos da cinta de suspensão aos

anéis da correia de ombro ou do cinto, conforme mos-

trado na gura. Selecione o tipo de cinta e o método de

conexão apropriado à sua aplicação.

NOTA: Se a ferramenta tiver empunhadura do tipo

guidão de bicicleta, conecte a cinta de forma que ela

passe por dentro do cinto, conforme mostrado na

Como desconectar a ferramenta

Pressione os fechos de pressão da vela para

destravá-la.

para destravar a vela.
