Assembly and setting up
WARNING! RISK OF FIRE!
► Never place the appliance underneath wall
cupboar
ds or next to curtains, cupboard walls
or other fl ammable objects.
► Place the appliance only on a heat-resistant
sur
face.
1) Take all the parts out of the box and remove
the packaging material and any protective
wrapping.
2) Clean all of the components as described in
the section “Cleaning and care”. Ensure that
all parts are completely dry.
3) Place the appliance on a heat-resistant, clean
and level surface. Ensure that you do not
place the appliance directly next to a wall
or a cupboard.
4) Insert the fat drip tray 3 into the slot in the
front of the appliance (see also fold-out page).
Before fi rst use
1) Wipe the griddle with a damp cloth.
2) Lightly grease the griddles with an oil that is
suitable for baking/grilling. This will make it
easier to remove any manufacturing-related
residue from the griddle.
3) Close the appliance.
4) Insert the plug into a mains power socket.
The appliance heats up.
5) Wait for 5 minutes.
6) Then disconnect the plug and allow the
appliance to cool down.
NOTE
► The fi rst time the appliance heats up, a small
amount of smok
e and smell may be gener-
ated: this is caused by production residue. This
is completely normal and is not dangerous.
Provide suffi cient ventilation; e.g. by opening a
window.
7) Wipe the griddle with a damp cloth after
cooling.
8) Clean the fat drip tray 3 as described in the
section "Cleaning and Care".
9) Ensure that all parts are completely dry before
operating the appliance.
The appliance is now ready for use.
Operation
WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
► The appliance is extremely hot during use!

or this reason, do not touch anything but the
handle 2 during use! Use an oven cloth if
you get hold of the appliance.
1) Now close the lid.
2) Insert the plug into a mains power socket. The
indicator lamp 1 lights up and the appliance
heats up.
3) As soon as the indicator lamp 1 goes off , the
appliance has heated up.
Open the lid at the handle 2 and place the
food onto the griddle.
TIPS
► The indicator lamp 1 lights up while the
appliance is heating up. When the appliance
has heated up, the indicator lamp 1 goes off
.
However, this can always illuminate and go
off again. This means that the appliance is
maintaining the temperature and has heated
up again a little.
4) Now close the lid.
Fat and liquids will run into the fat drip tray
during use 3.
