Display Function

2-1. Compatible Resolutions
For information about the compatible resolutions of the monitor, see “Compatible Resolutions” in the
Instructions for Use. For information on how to set the resolution on a PC, refer to the manual of the PC.
2-2. Setting the Input Signal
You can select an input signal to be displayed on the screen.
Procedure
1. Select “Preferences” from the Setting menu, then select .
2. Select “Input, then .
3. Select “Display Port1”, “Display Port2, or “DVI, and select .
When the setting is complete, the input port names appear.
Attention
If you turn the main power off and on again, the input signal is automatically detected regardless of the setting.
If the PC that outputs the specied signal enters the power saving mode or is turned off when “Auto Input
Detection” is set to “On”, any other available signal is displayed automatically. For details, refer to 5-4.

The display mode can be selected according to the monitor application.
Display Modes

Mode Purpose
1-DICOM Enables display using DICOM® Part 14-compliant grayscale characteristics.
2- CAL1 Displays the calibration status using calibration software.
3-CAL2
4-Text Suitable to display documents, spreadsheets, or other text. -
Procedure

2-4. Adjusting Brightness
Brightness levels can be adjusted and saved for each mode.
Attention
It takes about 15 minutes for the monitor display to stabilize. After turning on the monitor power, or after the
monitor has recovered from power saving mode, wait until 15 minutes or more have passed to perform various
quality control tests, calibrations, or screen adjustment of the monitor.
Note
Use values shown in “%” for reference.
Adjusting the brightness
The screen brightness is adjusted by changing the brightness of the backlight (light source from the
LCD back panel).
Setting Range
0 to 100 %
Procedure
1. Select “CAL Switch Mode” from the Setting menu, then select .
2. Select “Brightness”, then .
3. Specify the setting using or .
4. Select after completing the setting.
Adjusting the contrast
The brightness of the screen is adjusted by varying the video signal level.
Note
Contrast can only be adjusted in “4-Text” mode.

0 to 100 %

Note
When the contrast is set to 100 %, all the gradations are shown.
When adjusting the monitor, it is recommended to perform brightness adjustment, which does not lose
gradation characteristics, prior to contrast adjustment.
If the screen seems bright, the screen can also be dimmed by lowering the contrast. Lowering the contrast
reduces the amount gradation that is displayed.

Adjusting the gamma
Adjust the gamma. While the brightness of the monitor varies depending on the input signal, the
variation rate is not proportional to the input signal. Maintaining the balance between the input signal
and brightness of the monitor is referred to as “Gamma correction”.
Note
Contrast can only be adjusted in “4-Text” mode.
Setting Range
1.6 to 2.7

1. Select “CAL Switch Mode” from the Setting menu, then select .

2-5. Enabling or Disabling Sharpness Recovery (the
Function of Correcting Image Clarity)
EIZO’s unique technology called “Sharpness Recovery” displays images that are true to the original
source data by correcting variations in the LCD panel.
Procedure
1. Select to turn off the monitor.
2. While touching the leftmost switch ( ), touch for more than two seconds to turn on the
monitor.
3. Select “Sharpness Recovery” in “Administrator Settings”, then select .
4. Select “On” or “Off, then select .
5. Select “Apply, and then select .
Attention
After changing the setting, perform a visual check according to the medical standards / guidelines.

Chapter 3 Controlling Monitor Quality
The monitor includes the Integrated Front Sensor, which enables you to perform calibration and Grayscale
Check independently.
Note
Calibration can be performed periodically by using the schedule function of RadiCS LE that is attached to the
monitor. For more information about the setup procedure, refer to the RadiCS LE User’s Manual (stored on the
CD-ROM).
RadiCS enables you to congure the schedule settings for Grayscale Check as well as for calibration. For more
information about the setup procedure, refer to the RadiCS Users Manual.
If you want to perform high-level quality control in compliance with medical standards / guidelines, use optional
quality control software kit "RadiCS UX2".
To adjust measurement results of the Integrated Front Sensor to those of an EIZO external sensor (UX1 or UX2
sensor), perform correlation between the Integrated Front Sensor and the external sensor using RadiCS / RadiCS
LE. Periodical correlation allows you to maintain the measurement accuracy of the Integrated Front Sensor at a
level equivalent to that of the external sensor. For details, refer to the RadiCS / RadiCS LE User’s Manual.
3-1. Using the SelfCalibration Function
Execute SelfCalibration and view the latest results.
Executing SelfCalibration
Procedure
1. Select “RadiCS SelfQC” from the Setting menu, then select .
2. Select “SelfCalibration” for “RadiCS SelfQC, then select .
3. Select “Execute”, then .
SelfCalibration is executed.
Attention
If the power to the PC is turned off or the input signal switches while SelfCalibration is running, the execution
will be canceled.
After SelfCalibration is complete, perform Grayscale Check at the same room temperature and illuminance
as those in the actual working environment.
Note
The following items can be set by using RadiCS / RadiCS LE. For more information about the setup
procedure, refer to the RadiCS / RadiCS LE User’s Manual.
-Calibration target
-SelfCalibration schedule
-The next execution schedule is displayed in the advanced menu if the schedule was set in RadiCS / RadiCS
LE.
The calibration target value can be conrmed by selecting the target mode in "CAL Switch mode" of the
Setting menu.

Checking the SelfCalibration results
Attention
The results can be checked when "QC History" is set to "On" (see “3-3. Setting Whether to Display / Hide
Warnings or QC History” (page 14)).
Procedure
1. Select “RadiCS SelfQC” from the Setting menu, then select .
2. Select “SelfCalibration, then .
3. Select “Result, then .
4. Select “DICOM, “CAL1, or “CAL2, then select .
The SelfCalibration results (such as Max. Error Rate, Last Time, and Error Code) are displayed.
3-2. Using the Grayscale Check Function
Perform Grayscale Check and view the latest results. Furthermore, if you have congured the schedule
using RadiCS, the next execution schedule is displayed.
Performing Grayscale Check
Attention
Perform the Grayscale Check based on the actual color temperature and brightness of the working
environment.
Procedure
1. Select “RadiCS SelfQC” from the Setting menu, then select .
2. Select “Grayscale Check, then .
3. Select “Execute”, then .
Grayscale Check is executed.
Attention
The determination value for Grayscale Check can be specied from RadiCS. Refer to the RadiCS User’s
Manual for details.
The Grayscale Check schedule can be congured using RadiCS. For more information about the setup
procedure, refer to the RadiCS Users Manual. If you have congured the schedule using RadiCS, the next
execution schedule is displayed in the advanced menu.

Checking the Grayscale Check results
Attention
The results can be checked when "QC History" is set to "On".
Procedure
1. Select “RadiCS SelfQC” from the Setting menu, then select .
2. Select “Grayscale Check, then .

Up to ve past Grayscale Check results (Passed, Failed, Canceled, or Error) are displayed.

History
You can set whether to display or hide warnings related to “Failed” Grayscale Check results, or the
execution results (QC History) of SelfCalibration, Grayscale Check, etc.
Procedure
1. Select “RadiCS SelfQC” from the Setting menu, then select .

Chapter 4 Using the Monitor for a Long Time
The monitor can be set to enter the power saving mode according to the PC status or the user’s movement.
The life of the monitor backlight can be extended by setting the monitor to enter the power saving mode
when the monitor is not used.
4-1. Setting the Power Saving Mode
You can specify whether the monitor enters the power saving mode according to the PC status.
Procedure
1. Select “Preferences” from the Setting menu, then select .
2. Select “Power Save”, then .
3. Select “High”, “Low, or “Off, and select .
Setting Function
High Turns the backlight off. This provides the highest power saving effect.
Low Sets the backlight to the lowest lighting level. The time until operation stabilizes after
restoring from power saving mode can be reduced.
Off Does not enable the power saving mode. The backlight lights up irrespective of the PC
status. This setting may shorten the backlight life.
Attention
When not using the monitor, you can turn off the main power supply or disconnect the power plug so that the
power is cut completely.
Devices connected to the USB upstream port and downstream port still work when the monitor is in the power
saving mode or when the power is switched off using the power button ( ) of the monitor. For this reason,
power consumption of the monitor varies with connected devices even in the power saving mode.
Note
When the signal input from the PC is no longer detected, a message appears notifying the user of the transition to
the power saving mode. The monitor enters power saving mode ve seconds after the message appears.
When power save is set to “High” or “Low, the status of the monitor can be conrmed by checking the color of the
lamp on the power switch.

4-2. Setting Power Saving Mode That Is Activated When
the User Moves Away
By setting the Presence Sensor, you can set the monitor to automatically enter the power saving mode
and display no images on the screen when the user moves away from the monitor. The monitor returns
from the power saving mode when the user moves closer to the monitor. The length of time to pass
before the monitor enters the power saving mode can be specied according to the operating
environment of the monitor or the user’s movement.
Attention
This feature is not available when "RadiCS SelfQC" is running.
This feature is not available when "Power Save" is set to "Off".
Note
At the time of shifting to the power saving mode, a message appears notifying the user of the transition.
Procedure
1. Select “Preferences” from the Setting menu, then select .
2. Select “Presence Sensor, then .

4. When you have selected “On”, congure the advanced settings.

Specify the length of time to pass before the "No presence
detected." message appears after the user moves away from the
monitor. If the message appears, the monitor enters the power
saving mode after approximately 20 seconds.

A larger setting value allows the sensor to detect the users
movement more sensitively. This makes it difcult for the monitor to
enter the power saving mode. On the other hand, a smaller setting
value allows the sensor to detect only distinct movement of the user
and consequently enables the monitor to enter the power saving
mode more easily. The Presence Sensor functions by detecting the
movement of heat using the sensor on the front of the monitor. The
sensitivity varies with the users clothing and ambient temperature.
If you nd transition to the power saving mode or recovery from it
occurs unexpectedly, change the setting value.
Reset - Resets all settings related to the Presence Sensor to their default
values.
Note
The sensitivity becomes lower at high ambient temperatures. In this environment, you can set a larger
sensitivity value for your easier operation. On the other hand, the sensitivity becomes higher at low
temperatures, and accordingly a smaller sensitivity value is required.

Attention
If "Off" is specied, the PC currently connected to "USB-1" is enabled even when "USB-2" is selected.

5-3. Switching PCs Used to Operate USB Devices
Switch PCs used to operate USB devices.
Attention
Before changing the setting, remove all USB memory devices from the monitor if connected. Otherwise, data may
be lost or damaged.
The PC used for monitor quality control purposes must be connected to .
Note
PCs that use USB devices can be switched in connection with input signal switching and mouse position by using
RadiCS / RadiCS LE.
For details, refer to the Instructions for Use for RadiCS / RadiCS LE.
Procedure
1. Touch any switch (except ).
2. Select from the operation guide.
3. Select “USB-1” or “USB-2, and then select .
Select the USB upstream port to which the PC used for operation is connected.
5-4. Automatically Detecting the Input Signal
This product automatically detects the connector through which a signal is input, and displays the signal
on the screen.
Procedure
1. Select “Preferences” from the Setting menu, then select .
2. Select “Auto Input Detection” from “Preferences”, then select .
3. Select “On” or “Off, then select .
Setting Function
On Automatically detects the connector through which a signal is input, and displays the
signal on the screen.
If the PC that is outputting the signal displayed on the screen enters the power saving
mode or is turned off when multiple PCs are connected, any other available signal is
displayed automatically.
Off Displays the selected input signal regardless of whether or not it is available.
When you want to switch the input signal, see 2-2. Setting the Input Signal” (page 8).
Note
If you turn the main power off and on again, the input signal is automatically detected regardless of the
setting.

5-5. Setting the DisplayPort1 Version
You can set the DisplayPort1 version.
Attention
To use a daisy-chain connection, set the version to “1.2.
When a PC is connected via the DisplayPort connector, the DisplayPort version may differ depending on the PC,
and consequently the screen may not appear. In this case, try changing the following settings.
DisplayPort2 is locked in version “1.1”.
Procedure
1. Select to turn off the monitor.
2. While touching the leftmost switch ( ), touch for more than two seconds to turn on the
monitor.
3. Select “Signal Format” from “Administrator Settings”, then select .
4. Select “DisplayPort1”, then .
5. Select “Version”, then .
6. Select “1.1” or “1.2, then select .
7. Select “Apply, and then select .

Set the DVI refresh rate (screen update frequency) to suit your environment.
Procedure
1. Select to turn off the monitor.
2. While touching the leftmost switch ( ), touch for more than two seconds to turn on the
monitor.
3. Select “Signal Format” from “Administrator Settings”, then select .

5-7. Setting the Image Display Orientation
This function allows you to change the image display orientation according to the monitor installation
orientation.
Procedure
1. Select to turn off the monitor.
2. While touching the leftmost switch ( ), touch for more than two seconds to turn on the
monitor.
3. Select “Image Rotation” from “Administrator Settings”, then select .
4. Select “Portrait” or “Landscape”, then select .
Setting Monitor orientation
Portrait Select this when the monitor is installed in
portrait orientation.
Landscape Select this when the monitor is installed in
landscape orientation.
5. Select “Apply, and then select .
5-8. Adjusting Brightness of the Power Switch Indicator
The brightness of the power switch indicator (green) while the screen is displayed can be adjusted. The
larger the set value, the brighter the power indicator lights up. On the other hand, the smaller the value,
the darker it becomes. The “Off” setting turns off the power switch indicator.

5-9. Skipping Unused Display Modes
This function allows you to skip certain display modes when selecting a mode.
Please use this function if you want to limit the modes to be displayed, or avoid changing the display
