Eth In/Out
ETH IN/OUT Passive, surge-protected
RJ45 Ethernet ports.
Grounding Point The ETH-SP must
be grounded by one of the following
methods:
Using the included Self-Tapping Screw
to ground the ETH-SP directly to a
grounded metal pole or structure; or
Using an M5 machine screw and
nut (not included) to attach a drain
wire that is connected to a remote
grounding block or structure.
Package Contents
ETH-SP
M5 Self-Tapping Screw
M5 Serrated Washer
Installation Requirements
Mounting accessories and optional
drain wire are not included.
Pole-Mounting:
Drill with a 4.5 mm drill bit
(1) Metal strap or cable tie
Wall-Mounting:
(2) Screws (≤ 5 mm screw head)
(1) M5 machine screw and nut
(1) Drain wire (≤ 16 AWG, ≤ 40 cm)
Connect a Drain Wire (Optional)
If a drain wire is used to properly ground
the ETH-SP, attach it to the Grounding
Point with an M5 machine screw and nut
(not included).
Note: Place the included Serrated
Washer between the screw and
drain wire.
Installation
Install the ETH-SP near an Ethernet
device, either on a pole or a wall.
Follow the appropriate steps for your
installation:
Pole-Mounting
1. Thread a metal strap or cable tie (not
included) through the slot located on
the back of the ETH-SP.
Note: If the Ethernet device is
mounted on the pole with a metal
strap, you may use the same strap
to attach the ETH-SP.
2. Wrap the strap or tie around the pole
and secure it to the pole.
3. Remove the port cover by pressing
on the center and sliding the cover
downward.
Note: If you are using a drain wire
for grounding, proceed to the last
section, Connecting Ethernet.
4. Drill a 4.5 mm pilot hole into the pole
through the center of the Grounding
Point of the ETH-SP.
4.5 mm
Drill Bit
5. Insert the included Self-Tapping Screw
into the Serrated Washer and pilot
hole. Securely fasten the screw to
ensure the Grounding Point is bonded
to the pole.
Wall-Mounting
1. Secure two screws (not included) to
the wall, spaced 38 mm apart.
38 mm
2. Leave a gap of 3 mm from the screw
head to the wall.
5 mm
3 mm
3. With the drain wire already attached,
secure the ETH-SP to the wall by
inserting the screw heads into the
keyhole slots on the back of the
ETH-SP.
Connecting Ethernet
Connect two Ethernet cables to the RJ45
ETH IN/OUT ports. Then connect one of
the cables to the Ethernet device and
the other cable to the LAN.
