1 - DETERMINATION OF YOUR SKIN TYPE

Before applying any product, you must determine your skin type.

The colour of your skin has to be deﬁned taking an area not exposed to sun: an area from underneath

the swimsuit or from the armpits.

To determine your skin type, refer to the "PRECAUTION OF USE / STEP 1" colour table found on the

back cover.

2 - ASSESSMENT OF YOUR SUNTAN

Before starting any treatment, you must assess your suntan level to prevent any risks of de-pigmentation.

You must not have exposed the area to the sun or UV for lengths of time which vary depending on your skin

type.

For a better assessment, observe the areas which have not been exposed to the sun: underneath the

swimsuit or the armpits. You must not have recently applied any self-tanning or exfoliation product.

To schedule your ﬁrst session, refer to the "PRECAUTION OF USE / STEP 1" colour table found on

the back cover.

Regardless of intensity level, you must take the tolerance test before performing the ﬁrst treatment.

Ideally, test three spots on the area to be depilated, which have been shaved beforehand. If the ﬁrst hair

removal is painful, even in the slightest, you must reduce the intensity.

24 hours after the test, inspect the state of the treated area. It should not be red in any way; the skin

should neither be sensitive nor swollen, and you should not feel any discomfort.

If the test is ﬁne, you can use the appliance with the same setting.

It is preferable to shave on the day before treatment. The skin must be clean and free of any cosmetics.

WARNING! DO NOT USE THIS APPLIANCE:

- Before having read the warnings and safety instructions in the contraindication section of this

manual.

- If the skin is darker than MAT skin type shown in the table with the diﬀerent skin colours.

- On parts exposed to the sun to UV radiation, or treated with self-tanning products.

3 - FIRST USE

Thank you for buying this TEFAL appliance. Your appliance uses IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology

used by professionals for semi-permanent hair removal adapted to a personal use.

Performance

If you follow our recommendations for use, your appliance will allow you to achieve lasting reduction in

body hair. You should undergo treatment at regular intervals, every two weeks for four to six sessions,

then once a month for two to four sessions (depending on regrowth).

You can then use the appliance for touch-ups as needed until the hair has been removed completely.

Lasting results are obtained over 12 to 18 months, depending on your type. You will be then able to

enjoy long-lasting smooth, soft skin on your legs.

Safety

Your appliance has been designed by scientists and clinicians and tested in accordance with the strictest

standards. Your appliance provides optimum safety thanks to:

1) A skin-colour detector: This safety method checks skin pigmentation at the

beginning of, and during, each session. If the sensor detects that the skin is too

dark, the appliance will stop emitting light impulses.

2) A dermatological safeguard: this appliance has been tested under

dermatological supervision by an independent laboratory.

3) A skin contact detector: device developed for eye protection. It has been

designed to prevent any emission of pulses if the appliance points at empty

space. The safety device allows the appliance to work only if the window of the

appliance makes full contact with the skin.

4) U.V. ﬁlter technology: a high-performance, in-built U.V. ﬁlter provides safe use

without any risk to the skin.

WARNING: Due to hormonal or physiological changes, some of your body hair may grow back.

You will then need follow-up sessions.

Simplicity

The appliance is also very comfortable to use, thanks to its ergonomic, compact shape. The operation

consists of 4 steps: shave the area concerned (by preference on the day before), switch on the appliance,

select the intensity and initiate the ﬂash.

4 - USE/OPERATION CONDITIONS

Appliance operation

Warning: Do not treat the same skin area more than once during one and the same hair removal session.

Repeated treatment in the same place can lead to side eﬀects.

The treatment of too dark skin using this technology can lead to secondary eﬀects, such as burns, blisters,

and skin colour changes after healing (hyper- or hypo-pigmentation).

Lamp replacement

Warning: a disposable lamp must also be replaced if large spots appear inside or if the lamp window is broken.

The disposable lamp of your appliance has a rated working life up to 75,000-pulses. The pulse intensity

is only deﬁned by the setting of the power level of the appliance.

After 75,000 pulses, the INSTANT SOFT COMPACT disposable lamp is likely to be less eﬀective. To prevent

any inconvenience for our users and to ensure their safety, the appliance will automatically stop working

CAUTION: Do not apply any cosmetic before or after treatment. This could lead to redness or burns.

If burns or blisters occur, STOP RIGHT AWAY!

ATTENTION! DO NOT USE THIS APPLIANCE:

• If the skin to be treated is darker than the skin types described and deﬁned in the table showing the diﬀerent

skin typologies.

• On areas exposed to sun, UV or treated with a self-tanning product: see the PRECAUTION OF USE / STEP 2 .

• On moles or dark spots.

• Take the time to read the warning and instruction section, as well as the contraindications on page 2 and 9.

• The epilated area must be shaved.

Keep the appliance away from the eyes.

The treatment of hair on the face, neck or nipples is forbidden. Applying pulses on the eyes

can lead to severe eye lesions.

when the lamp has reached 75,000 pulses. For your comfort of use when the lamp has reached its lifetime,

the diode indicating the state of the lamp will start ﬂashing on the control panel, warning that the lamp

has to be replaced.

To continue your epilation, you must then replace the disposable lamp making sure to remove the Pro

Precision system beforehand if you were using it.

Lamp cleaning

Check for the presence of hair, dust or ﬁbres on the ﬁltering glass and on the skin colour sensor.

If necessary, clean the outside of the appliance using a soft cloth. Wet a soft, lint-free cloth with a few

drops of water, and clean the contact surface and the ﬁltering glass. To clean the lamp, switch oﬀ and

unplug the appliance.

To prevent any damage of your appliance do not use any solvent or alcool to clean the lamp.

5 - WARRANTY

This appliance is for domestic use only. It may not be used for professional purposes. The warranty will

become null and void in case of incorrect use.

6  IN WHICH CASES MAY THE APPLIANCE BE USED?

Skin colour

The treatment of too dark skin using this technology can lead to secondary eﬀects such as burns, blisters,

and skin colour changes after healing (hyper- or hypo-pigmentation).

This product was designed with a skin sensor which checks the colours of the skin being treated at the

beginning of each session and during use. The function of this sensor is to check that any application is

suitable for the skin type concerned. The light impulse is blocked when the skin is too dark.

Hair colour

The appliance is not eﬀective either against white or grey hair, or when the natural colour of your hair is

red or light blond. If your hair is of one of these colours, this appliance may not be suitable for you.

RECOMMENDATIONS & TIPS

Remark: After having replaced the disposable lamp, always set the energy level at a lower level than usual.

Go back to the usual power level only if you did not feel any unusual discomfort during or after treatment.

The appliance removes unwanted hair by selectively attacking the pigments inside the hair shaft. The amount

of pigment in a person's skin determines the colour, and also the level of risk to which they are exposed when

using any light based hair removal method.

The treatment areas include: armpits, the bikini line, the arms, the legs, the back, the shoulders and the

torso.

7 - CONTRAINDICATIONS

Important safety information  read before use

The use of this device is not suitable for everyone. Before using it, read the following instructions.

In case of doubt about using the appliance, consult your dermatologist or your doctor.

• Do not use the device on tanned skin or after recent exposure to the sun. Using it under these

circumstances may cause burns or severe lesions to the skin. Using the appliance on skin recently

exposed to the sun can lead to secondary eﬀects such as burns, blisters or colour changes (hyper- or

hypo-pigmentation).

• Avoid exposure to the sun for the 4 weeks preceding the treatment using this appliance.

• Do not expose the treated areas to the sun. Exposure to the sun means unprotected, continuous

exposure to direct sunlight for about ﬁfteen minutes, or unprotected, continuous exposure to indirect

sunlight (received when you are close to sunlight, but in the shade) for one hour.

• Protect the treated skin with SPF 30 minimum sun-screen during the whole treatment period in case

of sun exposition, and at least two weeks after the last hair removal session.

8 - RESTRICTIONS TO USE

WARNING! DO NOT use this appliance at least in the following cases:

• When pregnant or after a pregnancy until the return of your menstruation.

This appliance can be used over the whole body except for the face, the neck and the nipples, and for all skin

areas which are naturally more pigmented such as the genitals and the buttock cleft.

Keep the appliance out of the reach of children. Do not use the appliance on children, and do not

let children use it.

To determine compatibility between the appliance and your skin/hair colour, refer to the

"PRECAUTION OF USE / STEP 1" colour table found on the back cover.

• While breastfeeding.

• If the skin to be treated is darker than MAT skin type in the PRECAUTION OF USE / STEP 1 table on the

back cover.

• Exposure to the sun or to a U.V. machine, or self-tanning or scrub product following the indications in

the PRECAUTION OF USE / STEP 2 table on the back cover.

• If the area is dark, if there are birth marks, brown or black spots.

• If there is a tattoo or permanent make-up on the area to be treated.

• On the face, the neck and the nipples, and over all pigmented areas such as pubic labia and between

the buttocks.

• For scalp hair.

• On the same part of your skin more than once a week.

• An abnormal state of your skin in the region to be treated: red or pigmented birth marks, brown and

black spots on the skin such as freckles or moles.

• On dried or sensitive skin due to chemical, glycolic acid or AHA-peels.

• Near a piercing: generally, remove any piercing before using this appliance.

• Eczema, psoriasis, healing lesions or progressive infection in the area to be treated. You must wait for

the aﬀected area to heal before using the appliance.

• An abnormal skin pigmentation (e.g. vitiligo or albinism)

• An abnormal condition of the skin caused by diabetes, e.g., or by other systemic or metabolic disease.

• If there are antecedents of herpes attack (cold sore) in the area to be treated, unless a doctor has been

consulted and a preventive treatment has been received before using the appliance.

• On areas with silicone implants, a pace maker, a urinary incontinence implant, an insulin pump or any

metal implant.

• In case of pathology linked to photo-sensitivity (e.g. : porphyria, polymorphic light eruption, solar

urticaria, lupus, etc.) or caused by medication during the last three months.

• Medical treatment for acne or other skin diseases such as oral isotretinoin (Roaccutane®); medication

containing topical retinoids leading to increased sensitivity to light such as tretinoin (rétinA®); vitamin

A, carotenoid or beta carotene during the last two months.

• Minocycline or other medication containing tetracycline, during the preceding month. This medication

list is not exhaustive, please ask your doctor if you are taking any treatment.

• Diet containing steroids such as cortisone, during the last three months.

• 14 days after a microdermabrasion treatment.

• If you are already following other treatments for reducing skin hair.

• Skin cancer antecedents or areas with malignant skin tumours

• Radiotherapy or chemotherapy during the last three months.

• Immunosuppressive treatment.

• Epilepsy.

• Any other case which your doctor would consider to be risky for the treatment.

• If you realise some marks on your skin to guide you during traitement, only use a white makeup pencil

(which does not contain metallic by-products).

consult your doctor or your dermatologist.

9 - TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE

Never use when young children or babies are in the same room because the light emitted

by the appliance may bother them.

Avant de procéder à toute application vous devez évaluer votre type de peau.

La couleur de votre peau doit être déﬁnie à partir d’une zone de référence non exposée au soleil : zone

sous le maillot ou les aisselles.

Référez-vous au tableau couleur “Précaution d’usage /Etape 1 Niveau d’intensité en fonction du type

de peau” présent au dos de la notice pour déterminer votre type de peau.

2 - ÉVALUATION DE VOTRE BRONZAGE

Avant de démarrer tout traitement vous devez impérativement évaluer votre niveau de bronzage pour éviter

tous risques de dépigmentation. Vous ne devez pas avoir exposé la zone au soleil ni aux UV depuis une durée

Pour une meilleur évaluation, observez des zones non exposées au soleil : sous le maillot ou au niveau des

aisselles. Vous ne devez pas avoir eﬀectué une application d’autobronzant ou de gommage récent.

Référez-vous aux tableaux Précaution d'usage / Etape 1 au dos de la notice pour programmer votre

première séance.

Indépendamment du niveau d’intensité avant d’eﬀectuer le premier traitement il est impératif de faire un

premier essai : test de tolérance.

Idéalement trois spots sur la zone à épiler rasée préalablement, si le premier tir est sensible voir douloureux

il est nécessaire de diminuer l’intensité.

24H après avoir eﬀectué cet essai, vériﬁez l’état de la zone traitée, elle ne doit présenter aucune rougeur,

la peau ne doit pas être sensible, ni gonﬂée vous ne devez pas ressentir d’inconfort au niveau de cette zone.

Si le test est bon, vous pouvez utiliser l’appareil avec le même réglage.

Il est préférable d’eﬀectuer le rasage la veille du traitement. La peau doit être exempte de tous produits

cosmétiques.

ATTENTION ! NE PAS UTILISER CET APPAREIL :

- Avant d’avoir pris connaissance des avertissements et consignes de sécurité et de la section

contre-indications de ce manuel.

- Si la peau à traiter est plus sombre que le type PEAU MATE dans le tableau ""PRECAUTIONS

- Sur des parties exposées au soleil, aux rayons UV ou traitées avec de l’autobronzant.

3 - PREMIÈRE UTILISATION

Merci d’avoir acheté l’appareil INSTANT SOFT COMPACT de TEFAL. Votre appareil utilise la technologie

LIP (lumière intense pulsée) utilisée par les professionnels de l’épilation semi-déﬁnitive, qui a été adaptée

pour un usage personnel.

Performance

Si vous suivez nos conseils d’utilisation, votre appareil INSTANT SOFT COMPACT vous permettra de

réduire durablement votre pilosité. Le traitement doit être fait à intervalle régulier, toutes les 2 semaines

pendant 4 à 6 séances, puis 1 fois par mois pendant 2 à 4 séances selon la repousse.

Vous pourrez ensuite utiliser INSTANT SOFT COMPACT pour des retouches selon vos besoins jusqu’à

l’élimination complète des poils. Les résultats durables s’obtiennent sur une durée d’environ 12 à 18 mois

selon votre typologie. Vous pourrez alors proﬁter de vos jambes lisses et douces de façon durable.

Sécurité

Votre appareil a été conçu par des scientiﬁques et des cliniciens et a été testé selon les normes les plus

strictes. Votre appareil vous garantit une sécurité optimale grâce à :

1) Un DETECTEUR DE COULEUR DE PEAU : Ce procédé de sécurité exclusif vériﬁe

la pigmentation de la peau en début et au cours de chaque séance. Si le Capteur

détecte que la peau est trop foncée, l’appareil n’emettra pas d’impulsion

lumineuse.

2) Une CAUTION DERMATOLOGIQUE : cet appareil a été testé sous contrôle

dermatologique par un laboratoire indépendant.

3) Un DETECTEUR DE CONTACT DE PEAU : dispositif developpé pour la

protection oculaire. Il a été conçu pour que l’impulsion ne puisse pas être émise

si l’appareil est dirigé dans le vide. Le dispositif de sécurité fait fonctionner

l’appareil uniquement lorsque la fenêtre de l’appareil est en contact intégral

avec la peau.

4) Une TECHNOLOGIE “U.V. FILTER" : un ﬁltre UV intégré haute performance

garantissant une utilisation sans risque pour la peau.

ATTENTION: En raison des changements hormonaux ou physiologiques, il se peut que quelques

poils repoussent. Vous aurez besoin à l’occasion de séances d’entretien.

Simplicité

L’appareil est aussi très pratique à utiliser grâce à sa forme ergonomique et compacte. Le fonctionnement

se résume à 4 étapes : raser la zone ( de préfèrence le jour précédent), mettre en marche, sélectionner

l’intensité, ﬂasher.

4 - CONDITIONS USAGE/UTILISATION

Utilisation de l’appareil

Avertissement:Ne traitez pas la même zone de peau plus d’une fois par séance d’épilation. Le traitement répété

au même endroit peut provoquer des d’eﬀets secondaires.

Le traitement de la peau trop foncée avec ce type de technologie peut entraîner des eﬀets secondaires,

tels que des brûlures, des cloques et des changements de couleur de peau après cicatrisation (hyper ou

hypopigmentation).

Remplacement de la lampe

Attention : une lampe jetable doit aussi être remplacée si de grandes taches apparaissent à l’intérieur ou si la

fenêtre de la lampe est cassée.

La lampe jetable de votre appareil a une capacité jusqu'à 75 000 impulsions . L’intensité des pulsations est

uniquement déﬁnie par le réglage du niveau de puissance de l’appareil.

Au bout de 75 000 impulsions, la lampe jetable INSTANT SOFT COMPACT est susceptible d'être moins eﬃcace.

Aﬁn de prévenir tout désagrément à nos utilisateurs et de garantir leur sécurité, l’appareil s’arrêtera, de

manière automatique, lorsque la lampe aura atteint 75 000 impulsions. Pour votre confort à l’usage, lorsque

ATTENTION : ne pas appliquer de cosmétiques avant ou pendant le traitement. Cela peut causer des

brûlures ou des cloques. Si des brûlures ou des cloques apparaissent, ARRÊTEZ IMMÉDIATEMENT !

ATTENTION ! NE PAS UTILISER CET APPAREIL :

• Si la peau à traiter est plus foncée que les dermatypes décrits et déﬁnis dans le tableau des diﬀérentes typologies

de peau.

• Sur des zones exposées au soleil ou traitée avec de l’autobronzant : voir la conduite à tenir dans le tableau

évaluation du bronzage PRECAUTIONS D'USAGE / ETAPE 2" de votre Quick start guide.

• Ne pas utiliser sur les grains de beauté ou les taches sombres.

• Prenez le temps de lire les sections avertissements et consignes ainsi que les contre-indications page 13 et 20.

- La zone épilée doit impérativement être rasée.

Gardez l’appareil loin des yeux.

Le traitement de la pilosité du visage, du cou et des mamelons est interdit. L’application

de l’impulsion sur les yeux peut provoquer des lésions oculaires graves.

la lampe aura atteint sa durée de vie, la Diode indicatrice de l’état de la lampe clignotera sur le panneau de

commandes avertissant que la lampe devra être remplacée prochainement.

Lorsque les 75 000 impulsions de la lampe jetable auront été émises, la Diode indicatrice de l’état de la lampe

s’allumera en continu, vous avertissant qu’aucune autre impulsion ne peut être émise.

Pour continuer votre épilation, vous devrez alors remplacer la lampe jetable en vous assurant de retirer

d’abord le système Pro Précision si vous étiez en train de l’utiliser.

Nettoyage de la lampe

Vériﬁez la présence de poils, poussière ou ﬁbres au niveau du verre ﬁltrant et du capteur de couleur de peau.

Si nécessaire, nettoyez l’extérieur de l’appareil à l’aide d’un chiﬀon doux. Humidiﬁez un chiﬀon doux non

pelucheux avec quelques gouttes d’eau et nettoyez la surface de contact et le verre ﬁltrant. Pour nettoyer la

lampe, arrêtez l’appareil et débranchez-le.

Pour éviter tout dommage à votre appareil ne pas utiliser de solvants ou d’alcools pour nettoyer la lampe.

5 - GARANTIE

Votre appareil est destiné à un usage domestique seulement. Il ne peut être utilisé à des ﬁns professionnelles.

La garantie devient nulle et invalide en cas d'utilisation incorrecte.

6  DANS QUEL CAS PEUTON UTILISER L’APPAREIL ?

Couleur de peau

Le traitement de la peau trop foncée avec ce type de technologie peut entraîner des eﬀets secondaires, tels

que des brûlures, des cloques et des changements de couleur de peau après cicatrisation (hyper ou

hypopigmentation). Ce produit a été conçu avec un Capteur de couleur qui vériﬁe la couleur de la peau

traitée au début de chaque séance et en cours d’utilisation. Ce Capteur a pour fonction de vériﬁer que

l’énergie est uniquement administrée aux types de peau qui conviennent. L’impulsion lumineuse est bloquée

lorque la peau est trop foncée.

Couleur de poils

L’appareil n’est pas eﬃcace non plus contre les poils blancs et gris ou lorsque la couleur naturelle de vos

cheveux est roux ou blond clair. Si vos poils sont de l’une de ces couleurs, il se peut que cet appareil ne vous

convienne pas.

CONSEILS & ASTUCES

Remarque : Après avoir remplacé la lampe jetable, réglez toujours le niveau d’énergie un niveau plus bas qu’à votre

habitude. Revenez à votre niveau de puissance habituel seulement si vous n’avez ressenti aucune gêne anormale

pendant ou après votre traitement.

L’ appareil vous débarrasse des poils indésirables en s’attaquant de façon sélective aux pigments dans la tige du

poil. La quantité de pigments de la peau d’une personne en détermine la couleur, mais également le niveau de

risque auquel elle s’expose lorsqu’elle utilise une méthode d’épilation par la lumière, peu importe laquelle.
