This unit is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been
given supervision or instruction concerning use of the unit by a person responsible for their
safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the unit.
Intended use: This GARDENA Electric Hedge Trimmer is used to cut hedges,
shrubs and grass coverings in private domestic gardens and
allotments.

lawn edges, to chop up material or to make compost.

1. SAFETY
If not used properly this product can be
dangerous. The warnings and safety instruc-
tions must be followed to ensure reasonable
safety and efficiency in using this product.
The operator is responsible for following the
warnings and instructions in this manual and
on the product. Never use the product unless
the guards provided by the manufacturer are
in the correct position.
Symbols on the unit:
Read operator’s manual.
Wear safety glasses and
ear protection.
Do not let the unit become wet with
rain or other moisture. Do not leave
the unit outdoors while it is raining.
Disconnect the mains cable if the
cable becomes damaged or cut.

General Power Tool Safety Warnings
WARNING! Read all safety warnings
and all instructions.
Failure to follow the warnings and
instructions may result in electric shock,
fire and / or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future
reference.
The term “power tool” in the warnings refers
to your mains operated (corded) power tool or
battery operated (cordless) power tool.
1) Work area safety
a) Keep work area clean and well lit.
Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive
atmospheres, such as in the presence of
flammable liquids, gases or dust.
Power tools create sparks which may ignite the
dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while
operating a power tool.
Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2) Electrical safety
a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet.
Never modify the plug in any way. Do not
use any adaptor plugs with earthed
(grounded) power tools.
Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will
reduce risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or
grounded surfaces, such as pipes,
radiators, ranges and refrigerators.
There is an increased risk of electric shock if
your body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or
wet conditions. Water entering a power tool
will increase the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord
for carrying, pulling or unplugging the
power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil,
sharp edges or moving parts.
Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk
of electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use
an extension cord suitable for outdoor use.
Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces
the risk of electric shock.
f) If operating a power tool in a damp loca-
tion is unavoidable, use a residual current
device (RCD) protected supply.
Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric
shock.
3) Personal safety
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and
use common sense when operating a
power tool. Do not use a power tool while
you are tired or under the influence of
drugs, alcohol or medication.
A moment of inattention while operating power
tools may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always
wear eye protection. Protective equipment
such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard
hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate
conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the
switch is in the off-position before con-
necting to power source and / or battery
pack, picking up or carrying the tool.
Carrying power tools with your finger on the
switch or energising power tools that have
the switch on invites accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench
before turning the power tool on. A wrench
or a key left attached to a rotating part of the
power tools may result in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and
balance at all times. This enables better con-
trol of the power tool in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing
or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and
gloves away from moving parts.
Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be
caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the connection
of dust extraction and collection facilities,
ensure these are connected and properly
used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-
related hazards.
4) Power tool use and care
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the cor-
rect power tool for your application.
The correct power tool will do the job better and
safer at the rate for which it was designed.
b) Do not use the power tool if the switch
does not turn it on and off.
Any power tool that cannot be controlled with
the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power
source and / or the battery pack from the
power tool before making any adjust-
ments, changing accessories, or storing
power tools.
Such preventive safety measures reduce the
risk of starting the power tool accidentally.

d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of
children and do not allow persons unfamil-
iar with the power tool or these instruc-
tions to operate the power tool. Power tools
are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalign-
ment or binding of moving parts, breakage
of parts and any other condition that may
affect the power tool’s operation. If dam-
aged, have the power tool repaired before
use.
Many accidents are caused by poorly main-
tained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean.
Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp
cutting edges are less likely to bind and are
easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool
bits etc. in accordance with these instruc-
tions, taking into account the working
conditions and the work to be performed.
Use of the power tool for operations different
from those intended could result in a hazardous
situation.
5) Service
Have your power tool serviced by a qualified
repair person using only identical replace-
ment parts. This will ensure that the safety of the
power tool is maintained.
Hedge trimmer safety warnings:
• Keep all parts of the body away from the
cutter blade. Do not remove cut material or
hold material to be cut when blades are
moving. Make sure the switch is off when
clearing jammed material. A moment of inat-
tention while operating the hedge trimmer may
result in serious personal injury.
• Carry the hedge trimmer by the handle
with the cutter blade stopped. When trans-
porting or storing the hedge trimmer
always fit the cutting device cover. Proper
handling of the hedge trimmer will reduce pos-
sible personal injury from the cutter blades.
• Hold the power tool by insulated gripping
surfaces only, because the cutter blade
may contact hidden wiring or its own cord.
Cutter blades contacting a “live” wire may make
exposed metal parts of the power tool “live” and
could give the operator an electric shock.
• Keep cable away from the cutting area.
During operation the cable may be hidden in
shrubs and can be accidentally cut by the
blade.
Additional Safety Recommendations
Warning! Keep toddlers away when you assemble
the unit.
Small parts can be easily swallowed. There is also
a risk that the polybag can suffocate toddlers.
Work area safety
Only use the unit in the manner and for the
functions described in these instructions.
The operator or user is responsible for accidents
or hazards occurring to other people or their
property.
While operation and transport pay special attention
to the hazard for third parties.
Risk of stumbling. While operation pay attention to
the cable.
Warning! When wearing hearing protection,
and due to the noise produced by the unit, the
operator may not notice persons approaching.
Do not use the unit when a thunderstorm is
approaching.
Do not use the unit nearby a water.
Electrical safety
The British Standards Institute recommend the use
of a Residual Current Device (R.C.D.) with a trip-
ping current of not more than 30 mA. Check your
R.C.D. every time you use it.
Before use, examine cable for damage, replace it
if there are signs of damage or ageing.
If the replacement of the supply cord is necessary,
this has to be done by the manufacturer or his
agent in order to avoid a safety hazard.
Do not use the unit if the electric cables are
damaged or worn.
Immediately disconnect from the mains electricity
supply if the cable is cut, or the insulation is dam-
aged. Do not touch the electric cable until the
electrical supply has been disconnected.
Your electric cable must be untangled, tangled
cables can overheat and reduce the efficiency of
your unit.
Always disconnect the mains cable before
disconnecting any plug, cable connector or
extension cable.
Switch off, remove plug from mains and examine
electric supply cable for damage or ageing before
winding cable for storage. Do not repair a dam-
aged cable, send the unit to the next GARDENA
service Center or dealer authorised by GARDENA.
Always wind cable carefully, avoiding kinking.

Use only on AC mains supply voltage shown on
the product rating label.
Under no circumstances should an earth be
connected to any part of the unit.
If the unit starts unintentionally when the mains
plug is connected, disconnect the mains at once.
Contact GARDENA Service to check the unit.
Warning! This unit makes an electromagnetic
field while it operates. This field may under some
conditions interfere with active or passive medical
implants. To decrease the risk of conditions that
can possibly injure or kill, we recommend persons
with medical implants to speak with their physician
and the medical implant manufacturer before
operating.
Cables
Use only permitted extension cables as per
HD516.

Personal safety
Always wear suitable clothing, protective gloves,
and stout shoes.
Avoid contact to the oil of the blade in particular
when you react allergic with it.
Thoroughly inspect the area where the unit is to be
used and remove all wires and other foreign
objects.
Always hold the unit properly with both hands and
both handles.
Before using the unit and after any impact,
check for signs of wear or damage and repair
as necessary.
Never attempt to use an incomplete unit or one
with an unauthorised modification.
Power tool use and care
Know how to stop the unit quickly in an
emergency.
Never hold the unit by the guard.
Do not use the unit if the protection equipments
(protection cover, quick blade-stop) are damaged.
Do not use ladders whilst operating the unit.
Disconnect the mains cable:
– before leaving the unit unattended for any
period;
– before clearing a blockage;
– before checking, cleaning or working on the
appliance;
– if you hit an object. Do not use your unit until
you are sure that the entire unit is in a safe
operating condition;
– if the unit starts to vibrate abnormally.
Check immediately. Excessive vibration can
cause injury.
– before passing to another person.
Only use the unit between 0 – 40 °C.
Maintenance and storage

v When finishing or interrupting work push

Keep all nuts, bolts and screws secure to be sure
the unit is in safe working condition.
If the unit got hot during operation, let it cool down
before storage.

To clean the hedge trimmer:

(in particular high-pressure water jet).
1. Clean the unit with a damp cloth.
2. Clean the airflow slots with a soft brush (do not use a screwdriver).
3. Lubricate the blade

spray-oil Art. 2366). Avoid contact with the plastic parts.
4. STORAGE
To put into storage:

Guarantee: GARDENA guarantees this unit for 2 years (from date of purchase).
This guarantee includes all important defects of the unit that can
be proved to be material or manufacturing faults. Under warranty
we will replace the unit or repair it for no cost if these conditions
are applicable:
• The unit must have been used properly and in keeping with the
requirements of the operation instructions.
• Neither the purchaser or a not approved third party have tried to
repair the unit.
The blade and excentric drive are consumables and are not included
in the guarantee.
This manufacturer’s guarantee does not have an effect on the user’s
existing warranty claims against the dealer / seller.
If you have problems with this unit, please contact our Service or
send the defective unit together with a short description of the
problem – if there is a guarantee, with a copy of the receipt – post-
age paid to one of the GARDENA Service Centers listed on the
back of this leaflet.

výrobkami, v prípade, že boli boli vyvolané neodbornými opravami, výmenou dielcov, ktoré nepatria k originálnym
dielom GARDENA alebo neboli nami schválené arovnako boli spôsobené servisnými zásahmi, ktoré neboli vykonané
servisom GARDENA alebo autorizovaným odborníkom. Rovnako to platí pre doplnky a príslušenstvo.

ενδεχόμενες βλάβες που προκαλούνται από πς συσκευές μας, εφόσον οφείλονται σε μία ακατάλληλη επισκευή
ή σε μια αντικατάσταση τμημάτων για την οποία δεν έχουν χρησιμοποιηθεί τα πρωτότυπα ανταλλακτικά της
GARDENA ή τα από μας εγκεκριμένα ανταλλακτικά και σε περίπτωση που δεν εκτελείται η επισκευή από το
Τμήμα Εξυπηρέτησης Πελατών της GARDENA ή από έναν εξουσιοδοτημένο εξειδικευμένο τεχνίτη. Το ίδιο ισχύει
για εξαρτήματα και συμπληρωματικά τμήματα.
SLO Jamstvo za izdelek
Pismeno poudarjamo, da po zakonu jamstva za izdelek nismo odgovorni za škodo, ki bi nastala zaradi uporabe našega
izdelka, prav tako tudi ne za škodo ki bi nastala zaradi nepravilnega popravila izdelka ali pri napačni zamenjavi delov, ki
niso originalni deli GARDENA ali pri uporabi z naše strani potrjenih delov, ki pa niso bili vgrajeni v servisu GARDENA ali
v naši pooblaščeni servisni službi. Enako velja tudi za nadomestne dele in opremo.
HR Odgovornost za proizvod
Izričito napominjemo da u skladu sa Zakonom o odgovornosti za proizvode nismo odgovorni za štete uzrokovane
našim uređajima ako su one izazvane nestručnim popravkom ili u slučaju zamjene dijelova nisu korišteni originalni
GARDENA dijelovi ili dijelovi koje smo odobrili i popravak nije izvršio GARDENA servis ili ovlašteni stručnjak.
Isto vrijedi i za dodatne dijelove i pribor.
RO Responsabilitatea legala a produsului
Menţionam in mod expres ca, in concordanta cu responsabilitatea legala a produsului, nu suntem răspunzători de
nici un accident provocat de produsele noastre daca se datorează reparării necorespunzătoare sau daca piesele
de schimb nu sunt originale GARDENA sau aprobate de GARDENA, sau daca reparaţiile nu au fost efectuate de
un Centru de Sevice GARDENA sau un specialist autorizat. Aceleaşi prevederi se aplica si pieselor de schimb si
accesoriilor.

NA dalys arba dalys, kurių mes neleidome naudoti, o remontą atliko ne GARDENA servisas arba nejgaliotasis
specialistas. Tas pats galioja papildomoms dalims ir priedams.
