10. MAINTENANCE
The manufacturing date is included in the medical device package.
Check visually and function.
Do not use damaged medical devices, especially cracked Jar and Lid.
The manufacturer is not liable for damages caused by the use of a damaged medical device.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• Before use make sure that the suction device is correctly attached and in a vertical position. An
inclined position could disturb the correct functioning of the overfi lling protection device.
• Discharge accumulated liquids only in areas adapted to the disposal of hospital waste while observing
the regulations of the medical facility.
• When the MEDICOLLECT is exposed to a rapid increase in vacuum, the fl oat of the overfi lling
protection device could close the supply of vacuum, which would prevent the suction. In such case
turn off the supply of vacuum and vent the system by making a leak on the side of the vacuum source
(by tearing the hose out of the cap of the collecting jar on the “VACUUM“ side, by loosening the joint
between the vacuum regulator and safety jar). The fl oat will return into its original position.
• Do not handle the jar with a pressure cap by taking it by the cap!
COLLECTING SYSTEM FOR USE WITHOUT BAGS SCREW LID
10.1. PERIODICAL CHECKING
TIGHTNESS CHECK
• Assemble the device.
• Connect the jar according to the fi gure 3 (the side from the patient is closed).
• Extract from the tests prescribed by the standard (ISO 10079-3):
-Supply vacuum into the MEDICOLLECT (-40 kPa)
-Separate the device from the vacuum source using an ON-OFF valve
-Monitor the change in vacuum on the vacuum gauge for a period of 10 seconds.
-The maximum permissible decrease of vacuum is: 3.33 kPa / jar volume (litres)
-The allowed maximum decrease of vacuum for 10 seconds is:
MEDICOLLECT 2000 = 3.33/2 = 1.665 kPa = 16.65 mbar
MEDICOLLECT 1000 = 3.33/1 = 3.33 kPa = 33.3 mbar
MEDICOLLECT 100 safety Jar = 3.33/0.1 = 33.3 kPa = 333 mbar
INSPECTION OF THE OVERFILLING PROTECTION DEVICE
• Assemble the device.
• Connect the jar according to the fi gure 3 (the side from the patient is opened).
• Extract from the tests prescribed by the standard (ISO 10079-3):
-Supply vacuum into the MEDICOLLECT (-40 kPa)
-Suck in water until the protection device is activated.
-Record the level of water reached in the jar.
-Let the device operate for 2 more minutes.
-If the level of water in the jar rises, the protection device is no
-longer functional and it is necessary to replace it.
FREQUENCY OF CHECKS
Tightness:
• once per 6 months or every 5 cleaning cycles
Overfi lling protection device
• once per 6 months or every 10 cleaning cycles.
