Safety, performance, and dependability have been given

top priority in the design of your angle grinder.

INTENDED USE

The angle grinder is intended to be used only by adults who

have read and understood the instructions and warnings

in this manual and can be considered responsible for their

actions. The angle grinder is designed for grinding metals

only. Only appropriate grinding discs as described in the

operations.

ANGLE GRINDER SAFETY WARNINGS

SAFETY WARNINGS COMMON FOR GRINDING

OPERATIONS:

a) This power tool is intended to function as

a grinder tool. Read all safety warnings,

instructions, illustrations and specifications

provided with this power tool. Failure to follow

all instructions listed below may result in electric

shock, fire and/or serious injury.

b) Operations such as sanding, wire brushing,

polishing or cutting-off are not recommended

to be performed with this power tool. Operations

for which the power tool was not designed may

create a hazard and cause personal injury.

c) Do not use accessories which are not

specifically designed and recommended by the

tool manufacturer. Just because the accessory

can be attached to your power tool does not assure

safe operation.

d) The rated speed of the accessory must be at

least equal to the maximum speed marked on

the power tool. Accessories running faster than

their rated speed can break and fly apart.

e) The outside diameter and the thickness of your

accessory must be within the capacity rating

of your power tool. Incorrectly sized accessories

cannot be adequately guarded or controlled.

f) Threaded mounting of accessories must match

the grinder spindle thread. For accessories

mounted by flanges, the arbour hole of the

accessory must fit the locating diameter of

the flange. Accessories that to do not match the

mounting hardware of the power tool will run out of

g) Do not use a damaged accessory. Before each

use inspect the accessory such as abrasive

wheels for chips and cracks, backing pad

position yourself and bystanders away from

the plane of the rotating accessory and run the

Depending on application, use face

shield, safety goggles or safety glasses.

As appropriate, wear dust mask, hearing

protectors, gloves and workshop apron

capable of stopping small abrasive or

workpiece fragments. The eye protection must

be capable of stopping flying debris generated by

various operations. The dust mask or respirator

must be capable of filtrating particles generated

intensity noise may cause hearing loss.

i) Keep bystanders a safe distance away from

work area. Anyone entering the work area must

wear personal protective equipment. Fragments

of workpiece or of a broken accessory may fly

away and cause injury beyond immediate area of

operation.

j) Hold the power tool by insulated gripping

surfaces only, when performing an operation

where the cutting accessory may contact

hidden wiring or its own cord. Cutting accessory

parts of the power tool “live” and could give the

operator an electric shock.

k) Position the cord clear of the spinning

accessory. If you lose control, the cord may be cut

or snagged and your hand or arm may be pulled

into the spinning accessory.

l) Never lay the power tool down until the

accessory has come to a complete stop. The

spinning accessory may grab the surface and pull

the power tool out of your control.

m) Do not run the power tool while carrying it at

your side. Accidental contact with the spinning

accessory could snag your clothing, pulling the

accessory into your body.

n) Regularly clean the power tool’s air vents. The

motor’s fan will draw the dust inside the housing

may cause electrical hazards.

o) Do not operate the power tool near flammable

materials. Sparks could ignite these materials.

p) Do not use accessories that require liquid

coolants. Using water or other liquid coolants may

result in electrocution or shock.

OPERATIONS

Kickback and related warnings

Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched or snagged

rotating wheel, backing pad, brush or any other accessory.

Pinching or snagging causes rapid stalling of the rotating

accessory, which in turn causes the uncontrolled power

tool to be forced in the direction opposite of the accessory’s

rotation at the point of the binding.

by the workpiece, the edge of the wheel that is entering

into the pinch point can dig into the surface of the material

causing the wheel to climb out or kick out. The wheel may

either jump toward or away from the operator, depending

on the direction of the wheel’s movement at the point of

pinching. Abrasive wheels may also break under these

conditions.

Kickback is the result of power tool misuse and/or incorrect

operating procedures or conditions and can be avoided by

taking proper precautions as given below.

a) Maintain a firm grip on the power tool and

position your body and arm to allow you to

resist kickback forces. Always use auxiliary

handle, if provided, for maximum control

over kickback or torque reaction during start-

up. The operator can control torque reactions or

kickback forces, if proper precautions are taken.

b) Never place your hand near the rotating

accessory. Accessory may kickback over your

hand.

c) Do not position your body in the area where

power tool will move if kickback occurs.

Kickback will propel the tool in direction opposite

to the wheel’s movement at the point of snagging.

d) Use special care when working corners, sharp

edges, etc. Avoid bouncing and snagging the

accessory. Corners, sharp edges or bouncing

have a tendency to snag the rotating accessory

and cause loss of control or kickback.

e) Do not attach a saw chain woodcarving blade

or toothed saw blade. Such blades create

frequent kickback and loss of control.

ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR GRINDING

OPERATIONS

a) Use only wheel types that are recommended

for your power tool and the specific guard

designed for the selected wheel. Wheels for

which the power tool was not designed cannot be

adequately guarded and are unsafe.

b) The grinding surface of centre depressed

wheels must be mounted below the plane of

the guard lip. An improperly mounted wheel that

projects through the plane of the guard lip cannot

be adequately protected.

c) The guard must be securely attached to the

power tool and positioned for maximum safety,

so the least amount of wheel is exposed

towards the operator. The guard helps to protect

the operator from broken wheel fragments,

accidental contact with wheel and sparks that

could ignite clothing.

d) Wheels must be used only for recommended

applications. For example: Do not grind with

the side of cut-off wheel. Abrasive cut-off wheels

are intended for peripheral grinding, side forces

applied to these wheels may cause them to shatter.

e) Always use undamaged wheel flanges that are

of correct size and shape for your selected

wheel. Proper wheel flanges support the wheel,

thus reducing the possibility of wheel breakage.

Flanges for cut-off wheels may be different from

grinding wheel flanges.

f) Do not use worn down wheels from larger

power tools. Wheel intended for larger power tool

is not suitable for the higher speed of a smaller tool

and may burst.

ANGLE GRINDER SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

a) Check that the speed marked on the grinding

wheel is equal to or greater than the rated speed

of the product.

b) Ensure that the dimensions of the grinding wheel

are compatible with the product and that the wheel

fits the spindle.

c) Grinding wheels must be stored in a dry place.

d) Do not store objects on top of the grinding wheels.

e) Grinding wheels must not be used for any operation

other than grinding.

f) Grinding wheels must be stored and handled

with care in accordance with the manufacturer’s

instruction.

g) Inspect the grinding wheel before use to ensure

that it is not chipped or cracked. Chips or cracks

can cause the wheels to shatter, resulting in

possible serious injury.

h) Ensure that the wheel is fitted in accordance with

this manual.

i) Ensure that the grinding wheel is correctly mounted

and tightened before use and run the product at

no-load speed for 30 seconds in a safe position.

Stop immediately if there is considerable vibration

or if other defects are detected. If this condition

occurs, check the product to determine the cause.

j) Do not use separate reducing bushings or adapters

to adapt large hole grinding wheels.

k) Check that the workpiece is properly supported.

l) Use only grinding wheels approved by RYOBI.

m) Ensure that sparks resulting from use do not

create a hazard, e.g., do not hit people, or ignite

flammable substances.

n) Always use protective safety glasses and ear

protectors.

o) Use other personal protective equipment, such as

gloves, apron, and helmet, when necessary.

p) Never place the product on the floor or other

surfaces while it is running. Grinding wheels

continue to rotate after the product is switched off.

Never touch the wheel or place it on the floor or

other surfaces while it is rotating.

q) Use the product only for approved applications.

Never use coolants or water or use the tool as a

r) Grip the product securely with both hands while

operating.

RESIDUAL RISKS

Even when the angle grinder is used as prescribed, it is

still impossible to completely eliminate certain residual risk

factors. The following hazards may arise and the operator

should pay special attention to avoid the following:

ŶInjury caused by thrown-off particles

–Metal or abrasive particles may enter the eyes and

cause severe permanent damage. Wear goggles

approved for grinding operations whenever you use

the product.

ŶInjury caused by vibration

–Wear appropriate dust control mask with filters

suitable for protecting against particles from the

material being worked on and abrasive particles

from the grinding disc. Do not eat, drink, or smoke

in the work area. Ensure adequate ventilation.

ŶInjury from contact with the grinding disc

–The disc and workpiece will become hot during

use. Wear gloves when changing discs or touching

workpiece. Keep hands away from the grinding

area at all times. Clamp the workpiece whenever

possible.

ŶInjury caused by noise

RISK REDUCTION

It has been reported that vibrations from handheld tools

may contribute to a condition called Raynaud’s Syndrome

in certain individuals. Symptoms may include tingling,

symptoms. There are measures that can be taken by the

operator to possibly reduce the effects of vibration:

ŶKeep your body warm in cold weather. When operating

the product, wear gloves to keep the hands and wrists

warm. It is reported that cold weather is a major factor

contributing to Raynaud’s Syndrome.

STARTUP PROTECTION

This prevents the machine from restarting by itself after a

power failure. When resuming work, switch the machine off

and then switch it back on again.

MAINTENANCE

WARNING

Do not make any adjustments while the motor is in

motion.

The product should never be connected to a power

supply when assembling parts, making adjustments,

cleaning, performing maintenance, or when the product

is not in use. Disconnecting the product will prevent

accidental starting that could cause serious injury.

ŶAfter use, check the product to make sure that it is in

good condition.

ŶIt is recommended that you take the product to a Ryobi

authorised service centre for a thorough cleaning and

lubrication at least once a year.

ŶIf the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced

only by the manufacturer or by an authorised service

centre to avoid risk. Contact authorised service centre.

performed by an authorised service center or other

qualified service organisation.

g) Verwenden Sie keine beschädigten

Verhaken oder Blockieren führt zu einem abrupten Stopp

des rotierenden Einsatzwerkzeugs. Dadurch wird ein

unkontrolliertes Elektrowerkzeug gegen die Drehrichtung

des Einsatzwerkzeugs an der Blockierstelle beschleunigt.

Wenn z. B. eine Schleifscheibe im Werkstück hakt oder

blockiert, kann sich die Kante der Schleifscheibe, die

in das Werkstück eintaucht, verfangen und dadurch

die Schleifscheibe ausbrechen oder einen Rückschlag

Advertencias de rebote y similares

El rebote es una reacción brusca que se produce al

atascarse o engancharse el accesorio, como un disco de

amolar, plato lijador, cepillo de alambre, etc. Al atascarse

o engancharse el accesorio en funcionamiento , éste es

frenado burscamente. Ello puede hacer que pierda el

control de la herramienta eléctrica y hacer que ésta salga

impulsada en dirección opuesta al sentido de giro que tenía

el accesoiro.

En el caso de que por ejemplo, un disco amolador se

atasque o bloquee en la pieza de trabajo, puede suceder

que el canto del accesoiro que penetra en el material se

enganche, provocando la rotura del accesorio o el rebote

del aparato. Según el sentido de giro y la posición del

accesorio en el momento de bloquearse puede que éste

resulte despedido hacia, o en sentido opuesto al usuario.

En estos casos puede suceder que el accesorio incluso

llegue a romperse.

Por lo tanto, el rebote es el resultado de una mala utilización

de la máquina y/o de procedimientos o condiciones de

corte incorrectas.

a) Sostenga firmemente la herramienta y

mantenga el cuerpo y el brazo de manera

que pueda controlar un posible rebote. Si

la herramienta cuenta con una empuñadura

auxiliar, sosténgala siempre para tener un

óptimo control de la herramienta en caso de

producirse algún rebote o par de reacción

al poner en marcha la herramienta. Adopte

las medidas necesarias para poder controlar la

herramienta en caso de producirse algún rebote

o par de reacción.

b) No coloque nunca las manos cerca del

accesorio en movimiento para evitar el riesgo

de heridas graves en caso de producirse algún

rebote. Accesorio puede rebotar contra su mano.

c) No se ponga en la zona donde la herramienta

puede resultar expulsada si se produce algún

rebote. De producirse algún rebote, la herramienta

d) Preste especial atención cuando trabaje en

plano del borde de la cubierta. Un disco mal

la cubierta no puede protegerse correctamente.

c) La protección debe estar firmemente sujeta a

la herramienta y colocada para una seguridad

máxima, de forma que se exponga la menor

cantidad de disco hacia el operador. La

protección ayuda al operador a protegerse de

fragmentos de rueda rotos, del contacto accidental

con la rueda y de chispas que puedan incendiar

la ropa.

d) Los discos sólo deben utilizarse para las

aplicaciones recomendadas. Por ejemplo: No

afile con el disco de corte lateral. Los discos

abrasivos de corte están destinados a las fuerzas

laterales, de afilado periférico; si se aplican a estos

discos puede hacer que se rompan.

e) Utilice siempre bridas en perfecto estado que

tengan el tamaño la y forma correctos para

el disco seleccionado. Las bridas adecuadas

soportan el disco, reduciendo así la posibilidad

h) Cerciórese de que el disco esté montado de

acuerdo a las instrucciones de este manual.

i) Antes de utilizarlo, compruebe que el disco esté

correctamente montado y apretado y, después,

haga girar la herramienta en vacío durante

30 segundos orientándola de forma que no

represente ningún peligro. Pare inmediatamente la
